Wedding Planning – Helping the Bride and Groom Plan their Wedding Day – Choosing Your Wedding Flowers – Brides And Bridesmaids

One of the most important aspects of your wedding will be choosing your wedding bouquet. You will need to decide how many bouquets you will need to order depending on the number or bridesmaids and flower girl.

If you are sticking to a tight budget it would be best to avoid going for flowers such as roses, orchards or lilies, and if possible try not to have the wedding date set close to special occasions like Valentine’s Day or Mothers Day as you may find that flower prices have increased due to the nature of the event.

Make sure that you get in and book a florist early, preferably one that specializes in weddings. You should book your florist at least 6 months prior to your wedding. Your florist should be able to give you many ideas on what flowers will be available at the time of your wedding, and give you examples of how different arrangements look so that it makes it easier for you to decide. Two weeks before your wedding confirm the delivery address, date and time of your bouquets to be delivered to. Depending on the style of your dress, you may want to choose something a little more traditional and formal like a posy, or you may want something a little more simple but still elegant such as a trailing bouquet.

If your dress is very elaborate then you will need to choose flowers that will match your dress, flowers that are too small or that are not in proportion to you and the dress will take away the effect. Your bridesmaids bouquets should also reflect the colors of your bridal bouquet. You will need to provide sample fabrics of their dresses so that your florist can best match colors. It is also important to consider any hair pieces that you or your bridesmaids or your flower girl may be wearing. Let your florist know so that these can also be arranged along with your other bouquets.

Your florist will also advise you on how to they will prevent your flowers from wilting, and what flowers will hold up well in certain weather conditions. If your wedding is being held in the summer months, it is advisable not to have tulips, as they are very heat sensitive, otherwise you can decide to have your flowers wired to prevent them from drooping.

Having a spray bottle handy will help keep your flowers looking great. When your flowers are being delivered try to keep them in their boxes and in a cool room for as long as possible. If you are having photographs taken before the wedding make sure that as soon as the shots have been taken that you carefully place them back into their boxes until it is time for your departure.
